Reconciliation Action Plan 2026-28

Stretch Reconciliation Action Plan 2026-28

The Department of Finance’s Stretch Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) 2026-28 sets out our ongoing commitment to reconciliation and to embedding respect, inclusion, and accountability into the way we work.

Key information

Reconciliation Australia outlines that a Stretch Reconciliation Action Plan reflects a strengthened commitment to embedding Reconciliation into the department’s core functions, culture and influence across government. It requires organisations to embed Reconciliation initiatives into business strategies, so they become ‘business as usual’.

A Stretch Reconciliation Action Plan spans a three-year period and is focused on high impact commitments based on defined measurable targets and goals.

As a central agency, Finance plays an important role in shaping economic and financial policy and influencing systems across government. Our Reconciliation Action Plan outlines how we embed reconciliation into our core business, workplace culture, and stewardship responsibilities.

The Reconciliation Action Plan is guided by three key commitments:

  • Increasing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander representation
  • Creating a culturally safe workplace
  • Driving reconciliation through Finance’s work and influence

These commitments are delivered through four pillars: Respect, Relationships, Governance, and Opportunities.

By reading Finance’s Reconciliation Action Plan, you can:

  • Understand Finance’s ongoing commitment to Reconciliation and how it is embedded into our core business and ways of working.
  • Learn about the actions and priorities guiding how we engage with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and communities.
  • Reflect on how your role contributes to delivering Reconciliation Action Plan commitments and supporting meaningful, sustained outcomes across the department.
