The Department of Finance leads a coordinated, whole-of-government approach to managing public sector data. It oversees key data governance groups across the Australian Public Service and works closely with state and territory governments. These groups shape strategic direction, foster collaboration across jurisdictions, and promote best practice in data management. This work helps build a public service that is simple, secure, and connected, supported by world-class data and digital capabilities.
The Department of Finance has developed a diagram outlining the whole-of-government data governance groups and their reporting structure.
