The Australian Government Data Governance Framework is a general resource for all Australian government officers, both with and without direct data responsibilities. It helps build data maturity through a common understanding of data governance across the Australian Public Service.
The Framework provides the basics of data governance that agencies can adapt to suit their needs. It includes a checklist of governance practices, as well as a library of links to key policies and resources.
The Framework supports the Data and Digital Government Strategy’s Mission 5: Data and Digital Foundations. It also meets the Australian Government’s commitment to develop a whole-of-government data governance framework for consistent data management across the APS, as part of managing data as a valuable asset.
The framework and its associated resources are living documents, which the Department of Finance will periodically review and update.
