The Remuneration Tribunal determines the salary paid to serving parliamentarians. Information on the links between parliamentary salaries and the benefits payable under the Parliamentary Contributory Superannuation Act 1948 (the 1948 Act) and the Parliamentary Superannuation Act 2004 (the 2004 Act) can be found below.

Parliamentary Superannuation Act 2004

Parliamentarians who joined (or re-join) Parliament on or after 9 October 2004 are covered by the Parliamentary Superannuation Act 2004 (2004 Act). Information about 2004 Act superannuation arrangements can be found below.

Parliamentary Contributory Superannuation Act 1948

Parliamentarians who joined Parliament before 9 October 2004 are covered by the Parliamentary Contributory Superannuation Scheme (PCSS) which was established under the Parliamentary Contributory Superannuation Act 1948 (1948 Act). Information about the PCSS can be found below.
