Data and Digital Cadet Program
The Data and Digital Cadet Program is for current undergraduate and postgraduate students studying a digital or technology related degree.
To be eligible, you must have completed at least one full year of study.
As a cadet at Finance, you will:
- work a minimum of 2 days per week
- balance paid work with your university studies
- gain hands on experience in a professional government environment
- build practical digital skills that support your future career
- receive financial support towards your studies
This program gives you a head start on your career, real exposure to digital work in government, and the opportunity to make an impact while you learn.

Digital Graduate Program
Launch your digital career in government.
The Digital Graduate Stream is part of the Australian Government Graduate Program (AGGP) and is designed for graduates who want to build a digital career while making an impact in the public sector.
You can apply if you have:
- completed a university degree in a digital or technical field
- finished your degree within the last 5 years
As a Digital Graduate at Finance, you will:
- join the Finance Graduate Program, gaining broad experience across the Department.
- complete specialised digital training delivered through the Australian Public Service Commission (APSC).
- develop in‑demand digital and technical skills in a real government environment
- receive membership with the Australian Computing Society (ACS)
- attend ACS workshops and professional development sessions throughout the graduate year
This stream offers the best of both worlds — a strong foundation in government through the Finance Graduate Program, combined with targeted digital training to support your long‑term career in technology.
Recruitment for this stream is managed by the APSC through the Digital Stream of the AGGP.
When applying, you will be asked to nominate and preference departments. To be considered for a placement with the Department of Finance, you must preference Finance in your application.
