Payments to the Department of Finance

Credit card payments

Credit card payments made to the Department of Finance may incur a surcharge.

If you are making a payment using an Australian card or a Japan Credit Bureau (JCB) card, your card must be registered with 3 Domain Secure (3DS). 3DS is a security layer protocol for online purchases. 3DS requires you to enter an authentication code, known only to your bank, to authorise a payment.

If you need help to enable 3DS, or more information about this security feature, please contact your bank. The Department cannot provide advice or assistance to enable 3DS on your credit card.

We accept these credit cards for online payments. The surcharge shown applies.

  • American Express (AMEX) – 1.59%
  • MasterCard Credit Card – 0.60%
  • MasterCard Debit Card – 0.26%
  • VISA Credit Card – 0.88%
  • VISA Debit Card – 0.52%

* pre-paid credit cards are charged at the same rate as the card issuer AMEX, VISA or MasterCard.
