The Department of Finance’s Selling to Government team hit the road for two major industry events in August, SmallBiz Week 2025 in Sydney (7-8 August) and Tech in Gov in Canberra (12-13 August).
The events brought together business owners, industry leaders and innovators, providing valuable opportunities to connect, share insights and promote resources that help suppliers work with the Australian Government.
At SmallBiz Week, held at the International Convention Centre Sydney, our booth connected with small business owners, service providers and industry experts from a range of sectors. Conversations focused on helping businesses understand AusTender, the Commonwealth Procurement Framework and how businesses can improve their chances of supplying to government.
Just a few days later, the Selling to Government team attended Tech in Gov, Australia’s leading event for government IT and executive professionals. Held at the National Convention Centre Canberra, this event offered a unique platform for the team to connect with technology innovators and leaders in digital transformation, cyber security, artificial intelligence, and more. Our participation helped position Selling to Government as a key resource for tech suppliers looking to work with the Australian Government.
Building procurement capability
Across both events, the team engaged with around 300 businesses and stakeholders, answering questions, sharing insights, and promoting resources such as case studies, practical guides and the newly released video series to help businesses get procurement-ready.
Events like these are a valuable opportunity for Finance to build procurement capability, support supplier diversity and hear directly from businesses about the challenges they face when working with government.
