- hold a valid Australian unrestricted driver’s licence
- undergo a national police check
- hold or obtain a security clearance at the required level
- pass a pre-employment medical and functional assessment

National Police Check
Applicants invited to interview are required to obtain and provide a National Police Check. The National Police Check must be dated no more than one month prior to the interview date.
Security clearance
Successful applicants will be required to complete an online security clearance application and provide certified copies of personal documents directly to the Australian Government Security Vetting Agency (AGSVA). The checking required to grant a security clearance cannot begin until both the online application and the hardcopy documents have been received by AGSVA.
The accreditation process consists of a number of stages including gathering an individual’s information, verification and approvals.
The security clearance process can take up to six weeks to complete. Applicants cannot undertake duties with COMCAR until the clearance is granted.
Pre-employment medical assessment
Given the physical nature of the work, including the requirements to handle client luggage, applicants will be required to undertake a pre-employment medical and functional assessment, which will include lifting 23 kilograms. Applicants must be assessed as Fit to Perform the Role to progress through the recruitment process.
There is no cost to applicants for the medical assessment. However, the cost of specialist or other medical referral or evidence required by the assessing medical provider is the responsibility of the applicant.
Please note: Applicants will not be paid for the time attending the assessment.
Low Risk Driver Training
Applicants will undertake a Low Risk Driver Training course during the recruitment process, the cost of which is met by COMCAR. The course is conducted by an external registered training organisation and covers knowledge of basic road rules, road awareness and general driving skills.
Applicants must achieve a rating of competent to progress through the recruitment process.
Please Note: Applicants will not be paid for the time attending the Low Risk Driver Training.
