The Commonwealth Procurement and Contract Management Awards for Excellence help to promote the role procurement plays in delivering services and outcomes for government, citizens, and the business community.
The aim of the awards is to lift the capability of the Commonwealth procurement cohort, drive effective engagement with the business community, and demonstrate a commitment to excellence in procurement.

Finance periodically updates the award categories to highlight excellence in new areas of focus. The 2024 Awards categories included:
Building Entity Capability
This category recognises leadership or excellence in developing procurement and contract management capability. It highlights efforts that ensure the delivery of value for money throughout the procurement lifecycle.
Generating Benefits for Australia through Procurement
The Generating Benefits for Australia through Procurement category recognises strategies or approaches to a procurement which generate outcomes and value to Australia above and beyond the value of the goods and services being procured.
Encouraging Environmental Sustainability through Procurement
This category recognises leadership in using recycled content and embedding environmental sustainability into procurement design and delivery. This includes the management of ongoing arrangements.
Supplier Spotlight
This category is not associated with an award.
The Supplier Spotlight seeks nominations for suppliers who have delivered economic, social or climate benefits through participation in Commonwealth procurement.
The Supplier Spotlight showcases the experience of suppliers engaging with the Commonwealth, and the types of contributions that suppliers can make to the Australian community, industry sectors, local communities, and the broader Australian economy.
