DATA AND DIGITAL MINISTERS’ MEETING
COMMUNIQUÉ
11 OCTOBER 2021

Ministers met today by videoconference to continue strong collaboration on data and digital transformation.

The following Ministers attended the meeting:

  • The Hon Stuart Robert MP (Commonwealth)
  • The Hon Victor Dominello MP (New South Wales)
  • The Hon Danny Pearson MP (Victoria)
  • The Hon Don Punch MLA (Western Australia)
  • Mr Chris Steel MLA (Australian Capital Territory)
  • The Hon Paul Kirby MLA (Northern Territory)

Data and Digital Ministers noted easing of restrictions and economic recovery through collaborative and coordinated efforts.

Records of COVID-19 vaccination status

Ministers discussed progress on integrating a person’s record of COVID-19 vaccination status into state and territory check-in apps, following commencement of integration with state and territory check-in apps in October.

Integrating vaccination status into state and territory check-in apps means Australians will have an easy and secure way to show they have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19, or have received a valid exemption from an appropriately authorised healthcare practitioner, when checking-in to a venue.

Home quarantine technical support

Ministers discussed progress on trialing home quarantine, including Commonwealth technical support for early trials of a South Australian app.

Ministers also discussed the Prime Minister’s announcement offering overseas Australians facilitated flights into any state or territory that agrees to commence seven day quarantine trials, which will provide opportunities for more jurisdictions to trial technology solutions  This means more fully vaccinated Australians who wish to return home can do so as a result of strong Commonwealth, state and territory cooperation.
