Workplace Gender Equality Agency

Regulator function

Promote and improve gender equality in Australian workplaces including through the provision of advice and assistance to employers and the assessment and measurement of workplace gender data.

  • Workplace Gender Equality Act 2012
  • Workplace Gender Equality Amendment (Closing the Gender Pay Gap) Act 2023 
Regulated community

Non-public and Commonwealth public sector employers with 100 or more employees in their corporate structure are required to report to the Agency annually against standardised categories described as gender equality indicators. Employers of over 500 employees in their corporate structure are required to report against gender equality standards in addition to gender equality indicators.
