DISR is the designated Export Authority for administering the international Kimberley Process Certification Scheme in Australia. Rough diamonds are listed as prohibited goods in Australia and are regulated to prevent their sale being used to fund armed conflict. This function involves issuing Kimberley Process Certificates (export permits) to allow export of rough diamonds from Australia, reporting Australia's rough diamond trade and production statistics every quarter and submission of an Annual Report each year to the global Kimberley Process authority.
