Businesses, industry groups, and other stakeholders are being encouraged to help shape a new framework designed to strengthen workplace standards across Australian Government procurement.
The Australian Government has released a draft Secure Australian Jobs Framework for consultation, alongside proposed updates to the Commonwealth Supplier Code of Conduct.
The draft framework is intended to set clear expectations for organisations that are awarded Commonwealth contracts, supporting workplaces that provide stable employment, uphold fair working conditions and foster positive workplace practices.
The proposed framework is built around five key areas:
- secure work
- fair wages and conditions
- safe and healthy workplaces
- gender equality and diversity, and
- support for local jobs, skills and industry capability.
The consultation builds on feedback gathered earlier this year from a range of stakeholders and will help inform the final design of the framework and accompanying changes to the Commonwealth Supplier Code of Conduct.
Feedback is open until 21 October 2026.
