The Department of Finance was proud to participate in SpringOUT Fair Day last week, joining thousands of Canberrans in celebrating diversity, inclusion and community.
Held at Glebe Park, Fair Day is Canberra’s largest LGBTIQA+ community event and a flagship of Canberra’s annual SpringOUT Pride Festival, a month-long celebration of the region’s vibrant LGBTQIA+ community. From community and market stalls to live performances, food and family activities, the event brought people and organisations across Canberra together to connect and celebrate pride and inclusion.
Finance representatives joined colleagues from across the Australian Public Service at the APS Pride stall, engaging with members of the community and sharing information about the work being undertaken to support inclusive workplaces across government.
For Finance, participating in SpringOUT is an opportunity to listen, connect with the communities we serve and demonstrate our commitment to fostering a workplace where people feel respected, valued and able to bring their authentic selves to work.
It also highlights the role staff-led networks can play in strengthening workplace culture. Pride at Finance supports LGBTQIA+ staff and allies across the department, creating opportunities to connect, raise awareness and contribute to positive change in our workplace.
Working alongside APS Pride and colleagues from other agencies also strengthens connections across the public service, giving us opportunities to share experiences, learn from one another and contribute to a more inclusive APS.
Thank you to SpringOUT organisers, APS Pride and the many community members who visited the stall throughout the day.
As part of its commitment to inclusion, Finance will continue to support initiatives that celebrate diversity, promote understanding and strengthen connections across the Australian Public Service and the wider community.
