International collaboration is vital for driving continuous improvement in regulatory practice.

The Department of Finance recently welcomed delegates from the Indonesian Ministry of National Development Planning (BAPPENAS) for a meeting with Kelly Wood, Assistant Secretary, Regulatory Foundations Branch, hosted by the Australian National University’s School of Regulation and Global Governance (RegNet), to explore Australia’s regulatory reform agenda.

The BAPPENAS team leads Indonesia’s national plan for regulatory reform and improvement. The visit enabled the BAPPENAS team to gain insight into Australia’s regulatory reform agenda, understand the stakeholders involved, and explore Australia’s stewardship approach to managing regulatory systems.

Discussions centred around how Australia has implemented its stewardship model, holds regulators accountable for performance, and measures the effectiveness and impact of regulations.
