2026 Specialist Investment Vehicles Forum

The Department of Finance recently hosted the 2026 Specialist Investment Vehicles (SIVs) Forum bringing together more than 60 representatives from across portfolio departments and all eight SIVs including:

  • Australian Infrastructure Financing Facility for the Pacific
  • Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA)
  • Clean Energy Finance Corporation (CEFC)
  • Export Finance Australia
  • Housing Australia
  • Northern Australia Infrastructure Facility (NAIF)
  • National Reconstruction Fund Corporation
  • Regional Investment Corporation.

Together, these entities play a significant role in strengthening Australia’s economic resilience by supporting investment, boosting productivity and enabling projects that deliver public value.

SIVs play a key role in supporting government priorities like infrastructure, clean energy, housing, exports and regional development.

The key theme of the Forum explored the evolving role of SIVs in supporting Australia’s economic future. Discussions focused on how SIVs can continue to respond to changing economic conditions while supporting government priorities such as innovation, policy alignment, social impact and climate change.

Presentations explored topics including the geopolitical impact on Australian investment, AI governance in financial decision making, and Australia’s transition to net zero.

Panel sessions examined emerging trends in public and private investment, the role SIVs can play in innovation, and how social impact, such as gender equality, can be embedded into investment decision making.

These discussions highlighted the importance of collaboration across government and with industry to ensure Commonwealth investments remain effective.

The Forum is an important annual event for Finance. It provides a unique opportunity for in‑person collaboration, knowledge sharing and strategic discussion. It supports stronger relationships across the SIV network and helps ensure a coordinated approach to delivering sustainable investment outcomes for Australia.
