Reporting of Commonwealth entities

Australian Government Organisations Register

Finance maintains the official Australian Government Organisations Register. In accordance with sections 19 and 91 of the PGPA Act (Duty to keep responsible Minister and Finance Minister informed), the Finance Minister has directed that Commonwealth entities and Commonwealth companies must, through their portfolio departments, provide information on new bodies or changes to existing bodies for inclusion on the register.

Portfolio departments are responsible for providing coordinated information about the bodies in their portfolio to Finance through The register provides details of the types of bodies included on the register and exemptions, as well as information about each of the 12 classes bodies. Bodies assessed against the governance policy will generally fit into one of the 12 classes of bodies on the register; however, some of the bodies are not created solely by the Commonwealth and therefore do not need to be assessed against the governance policy.
