Employee allocations represent the number of positions allocated by the Prime Minister under the MOP(S) Act.

14 At any given time, employee numbers may differ from employee allocations if, for example, not all positions are filled or one position is filled by two or more part-time employees.

15 Tabulated at the first of each month.

16 Government and Opposition personal positions excludes Whips, Presiding Officers, Deputy Presiding Officers and former leaders, these are captured under the Other Personal Employee positions category.

17 Other Personal Employee positions includes Whips, Former Leaders, Independents, Minority Party, Recognised Party, former Prime Minister in Parliament, former Prime Minister not in Parliament, Presiding Officers and Deputy Presiding Officers.

18 Employee numbers as at 30 June 2012 included in Tables 3 through 8 are based on employment documentation for 2012-13 recorded by the Department of Finance.

20 Includes employees employed against the Relief Staff Budget.

21 The combined total of full-time and part-time electorate employees per year equals the combined total of ongoing and non-ongoing electorate employees for the corresponding year. Casual electorate employees are recorded here as a separate category but are shown relative to overall totals in Table 3.

22 The combined total of ongoing and non-ongoing personal employees per year shown in Table 6 equals the combined total of full-time and part-time personal employees for the corresponding year shown in Table 7. There were no casual personal employees recorded by the Department of Finance at either date.
