Comcover risk management benchmarking program

Comcover has played a key role in promoting better practice risk management across the Commonwealth, following the introduction of the Public Governance Performance and Accountability Act 2013 and release of the Commonwealth Risk Management Policy (the Policy).

This is the fourth year of the current iteration of the benchmarking program. Results over the four years indicate that a significant number of entities continue to align their risk management practices with the Policy but continue to struggle with the more complex elements of the Policy. However, there has been a continuous upward shift in maturity for the fund for each year of the program.

Entities are able to access prior years benchmarking survey results through the Comcover Launchpad.

For 2018, 150 entities participated in the program, with each entity receiving an Executive Report that analyses their current risk management capability against comparable entities and the fund as a whole. These reports are available to entities in the Comcover Gateway on the Launchpad. The Benchmarking Interactive Reporting Tool (BIRT) is also available to entities to drill down for further analysis of their results.
