I’m pleased to announce that, from today, users of data.sa.gov.au and data.gov.au will be able to find data resources from either portal using a single search. Now, users of the portals will have over 5,700 datasets at their fingertips.

The South Australian data portal is the first to kick off this metadata sharing partnership. This new CKAN extension allows participating portals to maintain a shared search repository.

When searching for data, users will now find additional resources listed at the end of the search results under the label, ‘Results from other Australian Data Portals’. The portal’s local search results continue to be displayed first.

The functionality is being made available to all government data portals in Australia. If you run a government data portal and want to make your data more discoverable drop us a line.

Cheers,
Allan and the data.gov.au team.
