Last Friday I presented a key note address at the Open Source Developers Conference at the Australian National University in Canberra. My talk covered the Australian Government Open Source Policy, and also provided some background on other AGIMO programs, and a brief overview of the international landscape in regard to Open Source. The slides from the presentation are attached.

It is very heartening to see Government adopting more open source use for portals. It will make Australia much more cutting edge and flexible compared to commercial offerings and will contribute to the greater community. Now that Drupal is being looked at to drive major Australian Government portals (May 2014), it will be an advanced open source country aiding the growth of the digital economy rather lagging behind as government often does due to cost.
