Since the Australian Government Data Centre Strategy 2010-25 was announced in March 2010, the Data Centre Migration Services Panel and Data Centre Facilities panel have been established.  The Data Centre Facilities Panel will be expanded to include greenfield sites, more information will be provided later.

The data centres currently on the facilities panel are (alphabetically :-)) Australian Data Centres - Mitchell Pty Ltd (Mitchell, ACT), Canberra Data Centre (Hume, ACT), Datacom Systems (Sydney, NSW), Enterprise Data Corporation Pty Ltd (Mitcham, Vic), Equinix Australia Pty Ltd  (Alexandria, NSW), Global Switch Property (Australia) Pty Ltd (Ultimo, NSW), iseek (Brisbane Export Park, Qld), Macquarie Telecom (Sydney, NSW), NEC (Springfield, Qld) and TransACT Capital Communications (Canberra, ACT).

The Migration Services Panel consists of (also alphabetically) APC, Colliers International Project Services, Dell Australia, Dimension Data, Fujitsu Australia, Hewlett Packard, IBM and The Frame Group.

The Data Centre Optimisation Target policy, which establishes performance targets for data centre Power Usage Effectiveness, was approved in July by the Chief Information Officer Committee. Further information will be available on the Finance website shortly.

Early this year, I released a discussion paper on Data Centre as a Service (DCaaS). My team is currently working with the smaller agencies on their requirements. I expect to engage industry to discuss the requirements and options later this calendar year.
