Purpose
This Procurement Policy Note provides an update to Commonwealth officials on the procurement of goods and services from KPMG Australia (KPMG).
Context
In June 2026, the Department of Finance (Finance) released a Procurement Policy Note regarding the engagement of KPMG and announced an independent review of KPMG’s governance, culture, ethics and integrity frameworks.
Subsequent to that advice, the timeframe for the independent review has been extended to 9 October 2026 to allow for the consideration of other reviews into KPMG which will report by 30 September 2026. As a result, the mutual agreement between Finance and KPMG that KPMG will not bid for any new Commonwealth work has been extended until 31 October 2026.
Consistent with previous advice, under this agreement, Commonwealth officials should not be entering into any contracts with KPMG Australia for any approaches to market which close between 16 June and 31 October 2026, barring the exceptions outlined in the previous policy note (the ongoing licensing or sale of KPMG proprietary products, existing contracts, or proposals submitted by KPMG Australia before 16 June 2026).
