Parliamentarians' Entitlements
The Department of Finance and Deregulation (Finance) has prepared the reports listed below on expenditure against entitlements accessed by Parliamentarians, former Parliamentarians and surviving spouses or de facto partners of former Parliamentarians, in accordance with the relevant legislation.
- Parliamentarians’ Expenditure on Entitlements paid by the Department of Finance and Deregulation
Includes expenditure, and adjustments, of entitlements (including domestic travel, car costs, overseas travel, Travelling Allowance, office facilities costs, office administrative costs and family travel) for Parliamentarians during the relevant six-month period. It also includes car transport costs as advised by other Departments in respect of Ministers, Parliamentary Secretaries and Presiding Officers.
- Former Parliamentarians’ Expenditure on Entitlements paid by the Department of Finance and Deregulation
Includes expenditure, and adjustments, of travel costs and, where applicable, family travel costs and costs of office facilities and office administration for all eligible former Parliamentarians and surviving spouses or de facto partners during the relevant six-month period.
- Parliamentarians’ Overseas Study Travel Reports
Includes overseas study travel reports, submitted by Parliamentarians, for travel undertaken during the relevant six-month period.
These reports are compiled by Finance and are published on the Finance website every six months.
Parliamentarians and former Parliamentarians (including surviving spouses of former Prime Ministers and Life Gold Pass holders) are asked to certify that their entitlements usage was in accordance with the provisions legislated for each respective entitlement. Commencing from the period January to June 2011, information regarding Parliamentarians and former Parliamentarians’ certification of their entitlements usage is published.
The supporting data underpinning the reports is available for all categories within the reports except for office facilities and office fit outs.

Prior Reporting Periods
From the July to December 2009 reporting period, the reports on Parliamentarians’ entitlements were enhanced to include expenditure on the following entitlements for Senators, Members and certain former Parliamentarians:
- office administrative costs, including:
- office consumables and services;
- printing and communications;
- publications;
- office facilities costs;
- travel allowances and travel expenses for both domestic and overseas travel, including family travel costs, and
- overseas study travel reports from Senators and Members.
