DETERMINATION REGARDING CHANGED TRAVELLING ALLOWANCE ARRANGEMENTS IN SYDNEY DURING APEC
I, GARY NAIRN, Special Minister of State, for and on behalf of the Prime Minister, determine under subsection 14(3) and subsection 21(3) of the Members of Parliament (Staff) Act 1984 (the Act) that, for the period of 1 September 2007 to 9 September 2007 inclusive, the Travelling Allowance (TA) arrangements of employees under the Commonwealth Members of Parliament Staff Collective Agreement 2006-2009 and employees above the classification of Adviser under an Australian Workplace Agreement are varied as follows:
- where an employee is required to stay overnight in Sydney and the TA normally payable is insufficient to meet the reasonable costs of the stay, the TA will be as follows:
- the full cost of the accommodation will be paid by the Australian Government; and
- the employee will be paid the meals and incidentals components of the relevant Sydney TA rate for each night of the stay, based on the rates advised by the Department of Employment and Workplace Relations; and
- where an employee whose home base is Sydney is required to stay overnight in commercial accommodation in Sydney due to the Asia-Pacific Economic Co‑operation Summit, the employee will be eligible for TA under the arrangements set out above.
