Chapter 5: Outcome 3—Efficiently Functioning Parliament

The Department of Finance and Administration (Finance) contributes to an efficiently functioning parliament by providing a range of support services to current parliamentarians and their employees, and former senators and members. This includes the provision of electorate office facilities, administration of travel and accommodation entitlements, personnel-related services and car-with-driver services. Ministerial and Parliamentary Services (M&PS) Group is responsible for the delivery of most of these services, with information technology (IT) support for electorate offices provided by the Financial and e-Solutions Group. Administration of parliamentarians' superannuation is undertaken by the Financial Management Group (Outcome 1) and, accordingly, was discussed in Chapter 3.
