Moorebank Intermodal Terminal Project - Market Sounding

Invitation for market participation

On 23 April 2012 the Australian Government announced its commitment to progress the Moorebank IMT Project at Moorebank in Western Sydney, with the facility opening on the School of Military Engineering (SME) site mid 2017 subject to planning approval.

The decision follows Government consideration of the Project’s Detailed Business Case, which considered the freight capacity issues facing Sydney and recommended a response to these challenges. It identified economic and social benefits including reduced traffic congestion, reduced freight costs, greater productivity throughout the national supply chain, improved environmental outcomes and local employment.

The design, construction and operation of the terminal will be undertaken by the private sector through a competitive process, in which the private sector will also be provided with an opportunity to contribute to the overall funding of the Project.

The Moorebank Project Office (MPO) is conducting an updated Market Sounding/Briefing during May 2012.  The purpose of this Market Sounding/Briefing series is to separately brief all interested stakeholders on the advancement of the Project including its proposed implementation plan.

The MPO is inviting interested parties that have not previously registered, and who satisfy one or more of the following criteria, to participate in the Market Sounding/Briefing process:

The Market Sounding/Briefing meetings will be held during the week commencing 21 May 2012.  Interested parties should indicate their interest no later than Friday 11 May 2012 to Rebecca Drescher-Boulos. Should you have any further enquiries about the Market Sounding/Briefing, please also email Rebecca.

Please include in your email a brief overview of your organisation to assist us in identifying whether you meet the criteria listed above.

Given the limited timeframe not every organisation that indicates interest will be able to participate in a Market Sounding/Briefing meeting.  However, we welcome and encourage written comments or views from interested parties who satisfy one or more of the above criteria.  Please email written comments or views to
Rebecca Drescher-Boulos at KPMG by no later than 25 May 2012.
