Community Information Sessions
The MPO held two Community Information Sessions for the Moorebank Intermodal Terminal Project at Wattle Grove and Casula on Friday 28 and Saturday 29 October 2011.
150 people attended these sessions, most of whom on Friday afternoon and evening at Wattle Grove.
The attendance register shows attendees came mostly from Wattle Grove, Casula, Holsworthy, Hammondville, Moorebank, Liverpool, Glenfield and Chipping Norton.
The MPO welcomed the opportunity to hear from residents who asked many questions of the MPO staff and technical experts from Parsons Brinckerhoff who were on hand.
The issues most frequently raised were the suitability of the site due to nearby residential areas, traffic congestion, air quality, health issues and noise. Other issues raised included light spill, visual impact and the expected extent of rail and road operations. The MPO has noted people’s comments and will take them into account as the Study progresses and the Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) is prepared.
Attendees also asked questions about the process being followed for the EIS including the types of studies being conducted in relation to noise, air quality and traffic movements.
The MPO also collected feedback forms from attendees. The forms identified similar issues to those raised by attendees in discussion with the MPO, including traffic management, health issues, noise, light spill and the suitability of the site as an IMT. The feedback also indicated that most people found the sessions useful and wanted more information in future.
