Procurement Coordinator
On 28 July 2009 the Minister for Finance and Deregulation, the Hon Lindsay Tanner MP, released the 'Australian Government Procurement Statement'
which identifies a number of measures related to the Government's procurement framework.
A key component of the Australian Government Procurement Statement is the announcement of a new function - the Procurement Coordinator. The Procurement Coordinator will have oversight of the Commonwealth procurement practices and policies. The roles and responsibilities of the Procurement Coordinator are currently being determined, however, it is anticipated that the following will be involved:
- providing external parties with an understanding of the Commonwealth Procurement framework;
- handling of certain complaints;
- monitoring issues related to Australian Government procurement; and
- reporting to the Minister for Finance and Deregulation on procurement matters.
This site will be regularly updated with details on the roles and responsibilities of the Procurement Coordinator as they are defined.
