This site has been designed for Australian Government departments and agencies and the telecommunications service providers that are providing the government with these services.
The Department of Finance and Deregulation (Finance), partners with telecommunications suppliers and Australian Government agencies to enable agencies to obtain telecommunications at whole of government prices through a Head Agreement framework with standard terms and conditions.
Finance is responsible on behalf of Australian Government departments and agencies for:
- administering the Australian Government Telecommunications Arrangements (AGTA)* which aggregates the Australian Government's buying power in telecommunications carriage services to achieve cost and other efficiencies in voice, data, mobiles, internet and facilities management services;
*Formerly known as “Whole-of-Government Telecommunications Arrangements (WoGTA). - negotiating with service providers on terms and conditions, pricing, and new telecommunications solutions;
- developing arrangements for market testing and benchmarking prices for telecommunication services to provide Australian Government agencies with the latest available information on competitive prices and services; and
- working cooperatively with state and local governments to ensure that government acts as an informed purchaser in order to obtain best value for money.
