Investment Funds

A number of investment/financial asset Funds have been established by the Australian Government. 

These include:

New Funds

The Government announced as part of the 2008-09 Budget, on 13 May 2008, that it will establish three new nation building Funds; the Building Australia Fund, the Education Investment Fund and the Health and Hospitals Fund. 

The Government will initially allocate around $40 billion to these Funds including from the 2007-08 and 2008-09 budget surpluses, once realised. 

The investments of the new Funds will be managed by the Future Fund Board of Guardians. 

The Funds are to be established by 1 January 2009.
