Investment Funds
A number of investment funds have been established by the Australian Government. These are:

Closure of the Communications Fund and the Higher Education Endowment Fund
Two Government investment funds, the Communications Fund [] and the Higher Education Endowment Fund [] (HEEF), were closed in early January 2009 as a result of the commencement of the Nation-building Funds (Consequential Amendments) Act 2008 [] . Upon closure, the balance of the Communications Fund was transferred to the Building Australia Fund and the balance of the HEEF was transferred to the Education Investment Fund.
