Gateway Risk Assessment Tool (GAT)

For the purposes of Gateway, risk is assessed using the GAT. The GAT is completed by agencies to allow the inherent risk of a project to be assessed. The risk assessment must be completed prior to the project's consideration by Government. The GAT produces an indicative risk rating which is then reviewed by the Gateway Unit which determines the final risk rating for the project.

Agencies complete the GAT by answering a series of questions that are designed to identify, at a high level, the presence of risk indicators for a project. The GAT is not an exhaustive risk analysis model and does not replace the need for agencies to perform their own detailed risk analysis and management throughout a project's lifecycle.

The GAT is available from the link below and should be downloaded when required. Agencies should ensure that they are completing the current version. Instructions for completing the GAT are provided in the GAT Instructions available from the link below
