Fantastic Learning and Development
Opportunities
The Australian Government offers a wide range of learning and development opportunities to its staff. So if you’re looking for a career in ICT with a great employer AND support for study, take a look at what’s on offer...
Study is paid for
When a course is directly related to your position there are provisions for most government agencies to contribute (whether fully of partially) to the cost of your studies and to provide leave from work to allow you to attend the course. Even if the course you are interested in is not directly relevant to your position there are opportunities for leave without pay, or part-time work, to allow you to study and work. So working within the Australian Government can make it easy to gain those extra qualifications while gaining valuable work experience and earning a salary at the same time.
A range of study options and support
In addition to financial support and time off work for study, the Australian Government provides a wide range of different options and flexible working to support life-long learning within the work environment. Examples of our learning and development support include:
- on the job training
- on-line learning options
- job rotation
- secondment to different departments
- opportunities to move across the department into new and challenging projects
- sponsorship to attend conferences and forums
- coaching
- mentoring
- leadership and personal development courses/retreats
Career development schemes
A Career in ICT with the Australian Government includes a range of Career Development schemes, where you work with your manager to plan your development and career progression each year. This could include attendance at specific ICT courses offered within the agency or by external training organisations or industry groups as well as more structured longer term courses through university or TAFE colleges. So, whether you’re just starting out in ICT or you’re looking for your next career move, you’ll find a strong focus on career development – why not take a look at what’s on offer right now.
