Cross Jurisdictional Chief Information Officers' Committee
The Cross Jurisdictional Chief Information Officers' Committee (CJCIOC), addresses e-government issues which span jurisdictional boundaries. The CJCIOC provides leadership to all areas of government on implementing national strategic approaches to ICT across government.
Terms of Reference
The CJCIOC is a committee of officials from the Australian Government, New Zealand Government, and State and Territory Governments. These officials have central coordination responsibility for ICT policy and strategy in their respective government administration. The purpose of the Committee is to provide a cross-jurisdictional response to ICT issues that span jurisdictional boundaries. The Committee is chaired by the Australian Government, represented by the Deputy Secretary of the Department of Finance and Deregulation.
The Committee will provide leadership to all areas of government to consider, promote, facilitate and reach agreement on implementing national strategic approaches to ICT across government. It will function as a cross jurisdictional channel for consideration of business and technical issues relating to government online service delivery. The Committee will:
- conduct its business in accordance with the agreed operating arrangements;
- actively bring forward and lead innovative and collaborative e-government projects for cross-jurisdictional cooperation;
- undertake joint projects focussed on building national and jurisdictional productivity;
- focus on the use of technology to improve useable, consistent and accessible services to citizens, business community and government;
- cooperate on business and technical issues related to broadband capability, as they affect government online service delivery;
- cooperate, collaborate and influence the national ICT security agenda;
- as appropriate, facilitate interoperability through national standards for existing and emergent technologies across all levels of government;
- complement other Australian Government, state/territory and cross jurisdictional fora to ensure there is no duplication of effort; and
- share intelligence on emerging technical and legal issues affecting ICT governance.
The CJCIOC Terms of Reference will be reviewed every 12 months. These arrangements have been agreed on 8 September 2011.
