About: There are a number of guidelines relating to the use of national symbols. Guidelines include the use of the Australian National Flag and the Australian National Anthem. The guidelines most relevant to publishers are likely to be those relating to the use of the Commonwealth Coat of Arms. Topics covered in these guidelines include:
- types or styles of Arms
- appropriate use (including electronic media)
- location and position on documents and on buildings
- documents not requiring the Arms
- size and colour
Status: Mandatory. The recommended use of national symbols is government policy.
