Background Information on the National Service Improvement Framework (NSIF)
In March 2002, the Online Council of Ministers set as a priority:
"the better integration of service delivery across all jurisdictions of Government".
To achieve this, the Online Council Officials (OCO) created the Integrated Transactions Reference Group (ITRG). The ITRG was established to:
"...develop a strategy for delivering integrated services across jurisdictions and to prepare a practical work plan to address the priority tasks".
In order to achieve this objective, the ITRG created the National Service Improvement Framework (NSIF). The ITRG decided that a conventional 'strategy' was not practical. Instead a 'framework' for collaboration was urgently needed.
The NSIF is further developed and implemented by the National Service Improvement Program (NSIP). The NSIP is funded by the Online Council Officials and is tasked with implementing the Integrated Transactions Reference Group agenda.
