Government Services Environment
Overview
The Government Services Environment (GSE) in an initiative managed by AGIMO to deliver whole of government services both to Australian Government agencies and to individuals.
This is a part of AGIMO’s work towards integrated government by:
- facilitating and generating cross agency services and knowledge sharing benefits
- aligning IT capabilities to changing user needs
- ensuring value for money in IT through leveraging existing infrastructure and services.
GSE Services
The online services that AGIMO provides through the GSE include:

Provides simple convenient access to government information and services for individuals and includes the following services:
- Single sign-on service, allowing people to visit multiple government websites without repeatedly signing in at each site.
- Online forms service for government agencies to source information from individuals. All forms and related information are published on australia.gov.au.
- In Focus service which provides links on the homepage of australia.gov.au to new Australian Government agency communications regarding new websites, programs, services, announcements and information.
- Service Directory service which increases the discoverability of government agency services through australia.gov.au service directory listings and content.
- Advertising and information campaign service which is available for agency media campaigns when procured through the Central Advertising System managed by Finance. Relevant campaign branding, logos and selected text is displayed on the homepage of australia.gov.au.
- Search services providing consistent search results for Australian Government websites. Govsearch indexes all Australian Government websites and includes all state, territory and local government content.
Agency search service
Initially designed for use by australia.gov.au for its search service, this index is offered to agencies for re-use on their own websites as part of the agency search service.
govspace govspace.gov.au [ ]
The govspace service provides an online engagement platform which hosts public blogs and websites on behalf of Australian Government agencies. Agencies are able to have an interactive blog or website or combination of both, enhancing the ability for individuals to contribute to government discussions.
govdex govdex.gov.au [ ]
The govdex service provides an online communications platform that supports an access controlled collaboration environment across government agencies and their stakeholders. The govdex platform is rated at the security level of IN-CONFIDENCE.
data.gov.au data.gov.au [ ]
The data.gov.au site provides an easy way to find, access and reuse public datasets from the Australian Government and state and territory governments. Data is provided in useful and useable formats under open licences which encourages public access to and re-use of government data. Government agencies can request user accounts allowing them contribute and manage their datasets.

The Government Online Directory is a guide to the structure, organisations and key people in the Australian Government. Information in the site is grouped under the four key arms of government: the Commonwealth Parliament, the Courts, the Governor-General and Australian Government departments and agencies.
