Australian Government Online Service Point (AGOSP) Program

Overview

The Australian Government Online Service Point (AGOSP) Program is a $42.4 million budget initiative that will enhance the australia.gov.au [External Site] website to provide people with simple, convenient access to government information and services. The AGOSP Program will be a major contributor towards the achievement of an ambitious information technology agenda the government set for itself in the 2006 e-Government Strategy, Responsive Government: A New Service Agenda.

In the last two e‑Government Satisfaction surveys, Australians’ Use of and Satisfaction with e-Government Services (undertaken by the Australian Government Information Management Office), people have repeatedly requested simple access to government information and services as well as more personalised services through a principal online entry point; they are frustrated by the need to visit multiple websites to get information and services relevant to them.

Through australia.gov.au, the AGOSP Program will make accessing government information and services simpler for people.

The enhancements to australia.gov.au will include a single sign-on service, allowing people to visit multiple government websites without repeatedly signing in at each; an advanced online forms capability; a multi-agency change of address notification service; and a National Government Services Directory, providing a comprehensive list of all government services (both online and offline).

The first major release will occur in December 2008 and a second major release in December 2010.
