Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6)

Overview

Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6) has been developed to increase the size of the available IP address space. It has several benefits including increased end-to-end security of systems and automated address allocation for internet connected devices.

The Australian Government has developed A Strategy for the Transition to IPv6 for Australian Government agencies [PDF Document - 467 KB] to assist government agencies to transition from IPv4 to IPv6.
