Insurance

Comcover is the Australian Government's general insurance fund. Comcover is modelled on the best managed funds in Australia and overseas. Its establishment in 1998 signalled the start of a more modern, responsible and cost-effective approach to managing insurable risks of the Australian Government.

Through the collection and management of premiums from Fund Member agencies, the budgets of Australian Government Departments and statutory bodies are protected from the major risks that can arise from claims associated with insurable risks.

Comcover's management of the Fund includes activities such as education and training and development programs.

All Australian Government agencies are insured through Comcover. Fund Members purchase cover for all normally insurable risks, with the exception of workers' compensation, which remains the responsibility of the Australian Government's Comcare external siteprogram.

Comcover provides a variety of insurance specific services including account management, claims management and insurance specific training, information sessions and resources.
