2008 Career Starters' Program

The Department of Finance and Deregulation (Finance) is looking for talented people who have recently completed or are currently completing their year 12 certificate at the end of 2008 to participate in the Finance 2009 Career Starters’ Program. You will need a strong record of academic achievement, a willingness to respond to a challenge, an ability to work as part of a team and an enthusiasm for professional growth and development.

As a Finance Career Starter you will be provided with a structured 12 month training program that will lay the groundwork for your future career in the Australian Public Service. You will work as part of a team in one of the six Business Groups of Finance. This work may involve entering information into computer systems, making calculations, writing letters and liaising with other staff or clients of Finance. There are jobs available in a broad range of teams.

Successful candidates will be eligible to receive a minimum annual base salary of $35,900. The positions are based in Canberra, and successful interstate candidates will be responsible for their own travel, accommodation and associated costs.

Job offers will be made before Christmas 2008 and successful applicants will commence work in January 2009.
