On Tuesday 5 March, AGIMO and ATO held an inaugural meeting to establish a Centre of Excellence in Data Analytics across government. The initiative is part of the Australian Public Service ICT Strategy 2012-2015 and aims to share information on data analytics skills, tools and techniques. Representatives from departments and several academic institutions came together to share experiences in implementing analytics in the public and private sector and to collaborate on terms of reference for the operation of the Data Analytics Centre of Excellence. Identified benefits of leveraging analytics capability across government include to drive efficiency, innovation, mitigate risk, improve quality, support better services and provide insights to shape and inform whole of government policy development.
