New Commonwealth Procurement Rules (CPRs) came into effect on 1 March 2017. The CPRs are the basic rule set for all Commonwealth procurements and govern the way in which departments and agencies undertake their own processes.

Finance has expanded the capability of its Commonwealth Contracting Suite (CCS).

CCS was originally designed for low value contracts (up to $200,000), but in response to demand, we have updated CCS so it can be used for contracts valued up to $1 million.

This improvement enables approximately 9,000 more government contracts to be completed using standard terms and conditions each year.

Since its inception, AusTender has been a key tool in Commonwealth procurement. It provides a simple and effective way for businesses to access Commonwealth tendering opportunities, and transparent Commonwealth purchasing data.

Building on AusTender’s success and functionality, we’ve launched GrantConnect (www.grants.gov.au), the new whole of Government information system for Commonwealth grants. Government entities will be on-boarded progressively over the coming weeks.

As I announced in June 2016, the Department of Finance approached the market via AusTender seeking new Panellists to join the existing Cloud Services Panel. The tender process for the refresh of the Cloud Services Panel is now complete.
