Vacation Employment
The Department of Finance and Deregulation (Finance) is seeking suitably qualified applicants for its 2010 Vacation Employment Program. If you are interested in gaining experience in an organisation that plays a pivotal role in providing strategic policy and financial advice to support Australian Government decision-making, then the Finance Vacation Employment Program may be right for you.
Finance's Vacation Program has two intakes per year which run through the mid-year winter and end-of-year summer holidays.
Students will need to meet the following criteria:
- have completed at least their first year of study
- be an Australian Citizen, or going to be granted Australian citizenship before commencement of the Program and be able to provide evidence of this
- maintained at least a credit average across all completed subjects
- be able to obtain a security clearance at the minimum 'Protected' level
All positions are based in Canberra and successful interstate candidates will be responsible for their own travel, accommodation and associated costs.
The Program allows university students to develop valuable work experience within the Australian Public Service and provides an avenue to encourage students to continue employment with Finance (via the Finance Graduate Development Program) once their studies have been completed.
The Program is advertised in May (Winter) and October (Summer) on the Finance Internet and on some university websites.
