What will the Vacation Employment Program do for me?
The Program provides students who are about to enter employment with interesting work experiences and is a way to develop new business contacts. Staff from Finance work closely with students involved with the Program on specific tasks and projects to develop workplace skills and cement long lasting professional networks.
What will I be doing?
You will commence work as part of a team in one of the Department's Business Groups. As a Vacation employee you will have the opportunity to apply the skills and knowledge that you are learning at university in a practical manner, and actively contribute to Finance's business requirements. The Vacation Program affords you with real work experience that provides a stepping stone into full-time employment once your degree is completed.
What skills are we looking for?
A lot of the work we do can only be achieved by effectively working together as a team, so team work and communication skills are highly valuable. Finance has six valued behaviours that we expect our employees to demonstrate:

Do I need to have previous work experience?
As long as the criteria for the Program is met, applicants do not require any previous work experience. Once selected, students will be provided with all the training they will need to successfully complete the Vacation Program and gain a valuable insight into the workings of Government.
What hours will I need to work?
You will be required to work 37 hours and 30 minutes per week or 7 hours and 30 minutes per day with a 1 hour lunch break – Monday to Friday. For further information regarding Finance’s working arrangements please refer to:

How much will I earn?
You will be recruited as a non-ongoing employee, commencing at the APS2 level earning $44,300 per annum when participating in Finance’s Vacation Program (or approximately $1,433.60 per fortnight after tax).
