Graduate Questions

“What do you find most interesting about your job?”

Steven – Deregulation group

As I said, the broader range of areas, makes it very interesting. Also just the cross jurisdictional nature means I get to work with a lot of different people, and a lot of different agencies, states and territories. Constant contact with a lot of different people. It's fairly dynamic so priorities can change from one day or one week to another.

Ashleigh – CAPS

The variety of different tasks I work on. Being the coordination function of the department we get a whole range of tasks so we never know what we will be working on next. A whole lot of variety and especially Senate Estimates, getting to see the issues that we see in the media play out in parliament.

Bopharoth – Budget Group

The most interesting part of my job is that we get to look at contentious issues. I get to work on border protection and people smuggling, so all the issues that are seen in the media every day. I guess an interesting aspect in that, is that we get to hear all about this before it goes out to the media.

Andrew – Budget Group

There are two things that are most interesting about working here at Finance. One is the people that you work with. You get to work with a lot of people from diverse cultures from all around Australia. The second thing is you get to work on all the important government processes; you get to learn a lot about the inner working of the government.
