Graduate Questions

“Why did you choose the Department of Finance and Deregulation Graduate Program?”

Bopharoth - Budget Group

Having graduated from a degree in Commerce, I wanted to find a graduate program that was looking for a whole range of skills, particularly business skills and I found that the Department of Finance and Deregulation graduate program offered that.

Steven - Deregulation Group

For a long time I have wanted to work in the APS because I have always had an interest in national issues and national politics and national agenda and it ties in well with my studies in Economics. I found that in my research about graduate programs that Finance is involved in a large and diverse range of areas. So I figured the pathways that I would be offered through Finance would be greater than most other departments. I was also very impressed with Finance at the assessment centre for the graduate program and it made a really good impression especially with the learning and development opportunities it provided.

Andrew - Budget Group

I chose the graduate program here at Finance, because I heard a great deal about how good the program was. Mainly through our student services at the university and also through some other people who lived down here. They told me about how much training is involved, and how much opportunity you have to work on important projects, especially because your given one position rather than rotated.

Ashleigh - CAPS

Being from Canberra, I knew quite a bit about the public service and just the central role that Finance played, as well in policy and its highly regarded reputation, as well as a career fair, Finance made a really good impression as well.
