Role of a Finance Graduate

Calculator The Department of Finance and Deregulation (Finance) Graduate Program (the Program) offers a diverse and comprehensive introduction into the Australian Public Service (APS) with 11 months of training and development activities. The Program is developed to provide our new graduates with the skills and knowledge to become Finance employees and to underpin their future careers within Finance and the APS. As a Finance graduate you have the opportunity to work on a variety of projects in diverse areas including:

Eligibility Requirements/Citizenship

To be eligible for a graduate position within Finance, you must:

Remuneration Package as a Finance Graduate

All Finance graduates will commence as an APS 3 officer and subsequently be eligible for advancement through a merit selection process to the APS 4/APS 5 level on 1 October in their graduate year. The base salary for a Finance graduate is set at the second pay point of the APS 3 salary range of Finance's remuneration framework found at http://www.finance.gov.au/working_in_finance/index.html.

Finance graduate positions are on a full time basis. As a graduate you can expect to receive a total potential remuneration package of $50,300, plus superannuation and a potential performance bonus, four weeks annual leave, flexible leave provisions and an 11 month development program. If you are moving to Canberra from interstate you will be provided with relocation assistance.

When you work in Finance, you will be part of a team that deals with a range of issues that are critical to the Australian Government. As a Finance graduate, you will be part of Finance's Graduate Development Program that will provide you with the skills and knowledge needed to become a Finance officer and to underpin a future career within Finance and the broader APS.

Applications for the 2011 program will open in March 2010.
