Employment conditions

The Department of Finance and Deregulation Enterprise Agreement 2011-2014 (Finance EA) provides the employment conditions for all Finance non-SES employees, including COMCAR Drivers.

Salary and classification provisions are set out at Attachment A of the Finance EA. When an employee commences with Finance, their salary is set at the relevant minimum guide point for the classification (higher salaries may be appropriate in some circumstances).

SES employees are employed under the terms of an individual section 24 (1) Determination (made under the Public Service Act 1999).

An overview of working at Finance

Finance provides competitive salaries with annual increases, generous leave and flexible working conditions (such flex-time, part time work and working from home). All staff must meet minimum security requirements ('Baseline' level clearance) prior to commencement at Finance.

The Finance Strategic Plan 2011-2014 sets down the direction in which Finance is heading and where it needs to position itself to provide the best possible contribution to government and to the APS. The plan sets out the way in which Finance will work, drawing on the principles embodied in the APS values and Finance Behaviours.

Finance has a strong focus on continued professional development and commitment to a diverse, healthy and supportive workplace, as well as initiatives such as corporate social responsibility.

Finance is centrally located in Canberra (parts of Finance are located in State and Territory offices), with access to free parking. A range of on-site facilities benefit staff to balance their work and personal needs, including childcare, library, Carer's and Mothers rooms, and health and fitness facilities.
