The CFO Unit contributes towards the outcomes of the Department by providing reliable and timely financial information that supports internal management decision making and seeks to drive improved organisational performance. The key products and services of the CFO Unit are as follows:
- Preparation of the Monthly and Annual Financial Statements
- Development and maintenance of internal accounting policies and procedures
- Treasury Function
- Asset and Taxation management
- Financial Services – such as accounts payable and receivable
- Development and maintenance of departmental CEIs and operational guidelines
- Business Planning and Budget Process:
- Preparation of the internal and external budgets
- Business Planning coordination
- Preparation of the Finance Portfolio Budget Statements and Additional Estimates Statements

e-Solutions Group (eSG)
The e-Solutions Group is responsible for the supply of cost effective, innovative and practical IT solutions to Finance's Business Groups and the Electorate Offices of Senators, Members and their staff. It is also responsible for the provision of secure communications services to Ministers, Parliamentary Secretaries and their Agencies.

The IT Services Branch is responsible for the management of service levels and day-day infrastructure operations of Finance's information technology (IT). The key services of the Branch are as follows:

Business Applications Services Branch

Business Applications Services Branch provides high quality and cost effective applications maintenance and support services to Finance through:
- Ongoing maintenance and support of AIMS, PSS, QSP and other business applications
- Provision of resources for testing and configuration management of applications
- Identifying, developing, implementing and supporting new business models and applications through the provision of application development skills and facilities
- Developing and maintaining IT Policies and Procedures
- Maintaining and implementing Finance's ICT Strategic Plan
Government Network Services Branch

Government Network Services Branch is responsible for the provision and maintenance of communication and infrastructure services to the Ministers and Parliamentary Secretaries through:
- Managing the Ministerial Communications Network (MCN) which provides secure telecommunication services to all Ministers, Parliamentary Offices, and Agency Heads, in Parliament House & throughout Australia
- Managing the Intragovernment Communications Network (ICON), an optical fibre network that links all Commonwealth offices throughout Canberra
- Providing Wide Area Network (WAN) communications services for Finance interstate offices
- Providing communications support to Whole of Government functions such as CHOGM, APEC, and Continuity of Government initiatives
Government Financial Systems Branch

Government Financial Systems Branch is responsible for the management, development, support and operations of the Central Budget Management System (CBMS) and the Accrual Information Management System (AIMS) which are used to facilitate the Government's budget ,financial reporting and cash management processes.
The key services of the Branch are as follows:
- CBMS Service Desk which provides a single point of contact for CBMS and AIMS support matters, including user access, incident management, and usage assistance
- Communications and training for CBMS and AIMS
- Business Support – provides subject matter expertise and support to the CBMS user community
- Operations Management – covering system and environment management and technical support
- Product development – covering identification, design, development and testing of new functionality, system changes and enhancements
- Common Information Tree (CIT) Administration Unit - administers the various policy and economic type classifications that are applied to the CBMS Chart of Accounts
Electorate Office IT Services

Electorate Office IT (EOIT) Services delivers first class IT services to Electorate Offices in a cost effective manner through rigorous management of service providers.
- It oversees IT service delivery to 250 offices occupied by Senators and Members of the Australian Federal Parliament through-out Australia via a series of outsourced contractual arrangements
- The IT services provided to Senators and Members is governed by entitlement granted by the Special Minister of State and EOIT works closely with M&PS in the delivery of these services
Procurement Branch

Procurement Branch, FeSG provides a Finance single point of contact for compliance based better practice, facilitative, procurement advice, guidance and governance for all simple and complex procurements. This includes clearance of approach to market documentation, which is mandatory for all covered procurements ($80,000 and over for property and services and $9,000,000 for construction).
Procurement Branch provides the following in support of these services:
- Single point intranet access through the Procurement and Contract Management home page, to ·simple and complex procurement processes, forms, checklists and templates
- Contract Registration System (CRS) business owner and system manager and AusTender administrator for Finance
- Administration of Finance's Physical and Electronic Tender Boxes and provides Finance's Tender Box official
- Better practice procurement (including contract management) training for Finance
- Proactive engagement with business groups on all procurement matters and provides pre-procurement advice on potential procurement strategies
- Monitors, reviews, manages and reports on procurement processes and data quality across the Department
Manages Finance's procurement reporting obligations including;- Contract reporting on AusTender
- Senate Order Reporting of Contracts containing Confidentiality provisions
- Coordinate and publish Finance's Annual Procurement Plan on AusTender
- Consultancy, and procurement and probity clearances reporting to Secretary
